Bonnie Prince Billy has reworked Hot Chip’s forthcoming single ‘I Feel Better’. Not only does this calm version introduce new sounds, such as the deep bouncy bass, but an original clear approach on the lyrics has been made. It’s a success – a joy!
Yesterday saw the release of Bonobo‘s fourth album ‘Black Sands’ on Ninja Tune. No need to repeat the mass of reviews but simply say it’s all aural pleasure – enjoy this atmospheric plea.
It’s that time of year again, spring has fully arrived and daylight confuses temporal awareness. It it also time for another installment of Adventures In The Beetroot Field at Fabric. The line up crosses the borders of house and dubstep with a varity of live and dj performances. In light of this event Kry Wolf has produced this remix of Reset!’s track ‘If We Try’. It’s an optimistic vocoded love song with disco funk bass and cosmic organ synths.
25 years ago Wayne Smith’s Under Me Sleng Teng was first played in a dance. And it marked the birth of Digital dancehall. The Heatwave is very kindly giving us all a history lesson of bashment over the last 25 years. Listen to their show from RinseFM and learn a likle if yuh like. FYAAAAAAH!
An airy acid house love song by & Me and Fetisch featuring the vocals of Justin Timberlake. Simple quality production of percussion and square acid bass. Sway and nod with eyes shut.
Happy Please comes to us direct after the closure of much loved Curb Crawlers Blog. Brandon Sek teams up with DuVall and Flora to bring us more aural treats. The design is pure simplicity, focusing importance on the cause – share and talk about music of interest.
Their initial offerings have not disappointed and the following latest addition is pure bliss. A heartfelt house track of gentle sounds.
Just came across this. It seems to be circulating the internet like wildfire, but for any that haven’t seen it, its a real treat. Produced by a Singaporean animation student called Serene Teh. Enjoy!
These tunes have been sitting in my recently downloaded folder for a couple of months now, but have only just really broken my eardrums.
Fantastic Mr. Fox, a favourite but somewhat elusive producer making great waves with his Sketches EP. Here at Pejhy we love oscillating synth lines and thankfully so does Mr. Fox. Genre merging, delicate rave brutality. For the party hype or the headphone escapism, pure bliss!
Another arpeggiator filter remix extravaganza by the master boy of 8-bit for Les Gillettes. Two new original tracks are also soon to be released - ’The Keep’ can be heard on myspace.
I have recently returned from a week long European architectural road trip. Forty people, one bus and five countries - overwhelming landscapes and buildings. Here are some of the aural pleasures that accompanied my visual encounters.
First off is a track I didn’t have during the trip but it sure would’ve cycled on repeat if so. Mount Kimbie with a beautiful production of distant claps, bassy kicks and present percussion all in a world of white noise and organ and guitar atmosphere.
Finally, ever since it’s release I have been listening to Pantha Du Prince‘s latest album release ‘Black Noise’, but it has never been more apt than during a coach trip through the moody mountains of central Europe. The album is a sublime sound space spanning the full spectrum of electroacoustic/techno. I can’t choose one from the mass of great songs so here’s a promo video for the album and an earlier remix of the Long Blondes track ‘Guilt’.
First let’s get this out of the way; Exit Through The Gift Shop is not a movie about Banksy (and no you don’t get to see his face), it’s a tale of media hype Vs talent, how guerrilla marketing can make you a million pounds in one night and most importantly of all, “Exit” is the perfect example of just how self aware and mature the street art movement has become.
Featuring a stellar cast of artistic talent including; Sweet Toof, Shepard Fairy, Swoon and Invader to name a few, the film follows the story of French film maker turned chancer street artist; Mr Brain Wash, from his early years of film making and peeking at his mega hyped solo show in LA.
The film is charming, funny and intelligent. It is not a promotion tool for the street art movement and i was highly impressed with it’s honesty by showing the ugly side of modern day graffiti. Whether you’ve been into street art for years or just want to see a good movie, I couldn’t recommend this more. 10 out of 10, 5 stars, go see it now!
